Ronald E. Thurston, 78, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Life Care Center of Port Saint Lucie.He was born in Rockland, ME and had been a resident of Port St. Lucie since 1980 coming from Rockland.He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jensen Beach, FL.He had been the owner of Thurston Plumbing & Heating in Maine and managed the Island Dunes and Islandia on Hutchinson Island, FL. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a volunteer fireman, volunteer deputy sheriff, a Boy Scout leader and member of the school board.He was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Thurston, 2 brothers, Jason and Carlton Thurston and 2 grandchildren.Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marie Thurston of Port St. Lucie, FL, 5 daughters, Sandra Bailey of Hope, ME, Karen Huntley of Cooper City, FL, Diane Davis, Lisa Reichert and Rhonda Campbell all of Port St. Lucie, FL, 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Friday, April 3 at Aycock Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie, FL.Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, April 4 at Aycock Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie, FL.
