Scott A. Berger, 48, of Port St. Lucie, Fl. passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Scott was born in Hollywood Florida and was employed as a professional Fire Fighter /Paramedic in Palm Beach County. After 28 years of service, Scott retired in January this year at the rank of Captain, for PBCFR Station 41, which he proudly called "The Night Train". Scott loved his career, the people he led, worked alongside and kept out of harms way. Recently asked if he missed the job, he answered "yes, and I'd do it all again".
Scotty, as he was known to many friends and family, was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was truly at his best when he was helping someone else. Scotty was born with a heart to give and lived a passionate life of serving others. Never asking for recognition. Never pursuing glory for himself. Never expecting more than to get the job done that needed to be done.
For many, he was a mentor. For two, he was a dedicated father. For one, he was an amazing, generous, loving husband. Scott and Michelle were married for 22 years.
Scott was often found at the grill, in the kitchen or making a seafood boil for anyone who stood still long enough to need a plate in their hand. This gift was savored by so many and it filled his heart to see others enjoy.
Scott was truly a servant leader.
