Theda Rose Johnson Rucker, 72, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away September 3, 2015 . She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Nettie and the late Horace Wheeler, July 5, 1943. She moved to Port St. Lucie 11 years ago from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
She attended Wayne State University where she earned a Bachelor, Master, and Education Specialist degrees in Biology and English, Education, Counseling, and Education Administration.
Theda committed her life to Christ and was a member of Mount Bethel Worship Center, Fort Pierce Campus.
She had a passion for fundraising to help the educational advancement of college-bound students and was actively committed to giving back to her community.
Her hobbies were playing golf, dancing and travelling. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Treasure Coast (FL) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated, South Florida Friends, Mahjong, Trivia Group and The Gala Group.
Theda is survived by her mother, Nettie Wheeler, daughter, Tonya Johnson McKinney, Las Vegas, NV; son, George Johnson, Portland, Oregon; husband, Thomas R. Rucker, Port St. Lucie, FL; and step-sons, Thomas Rucker Jr. and Roderick Rucker, of Michigan.
