Victor Spencer was born on June 7, 1933, to Norris Spencer and Edna Dickson in Kingston, Jamaica. He had two siblings Dennis Earl Spencer and Audrey Pamela Spencer, both now diseased. He attended Windward Road Elementary school. He went on to receive his A Levels, Draftsman Certification, after which he worked for Jamaica Public Service. While living in Jamaica, he enjoyed swimming at Buccaneer Beach and Gun Boat Beach. He liked the agriculture of Jamaica the most. He planted gungo peas trees and tomatoes.
He met Carmen Louise Dunn, in St. Catherine, Jamaica and they were married on May 14, 1960. They lived for several years in Harbor View, Jamaica and moved to New York in 1970 where he worked for Consolidated Edison until his retirement in 1997. They raised five beautiful children, Beverly Mignot, Sovia Chukwuma, Sandra Hughes, Evrard Spencer, and Mike Spencer. He leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and “great great” grandchildren.
After retiring from Con Edison, Pops enjoyed fixing things around the house, reading and listening to his bible and taking care of “Bird”.
Pops was a quiet man, but he shared so many wise lessons. He was very generous with his time and his resources and was always available when his family and friends needed him. Thank you for being such a model example for us all.
