

'Jinnie' was born in West Haven, Connecticut in 1924 and graduated from West Haven High School in 1941. She volunteered as a hospital Nurses Aide during WW II, then went to work at the Yale Sterling Library and at Southern New England Telephone Company. She married, Joseph Howell, in 1949 and together they raised their family in the Saint Lawrence Parish in West Haven, CT. Joseph and Jinnie were married for 66 years.
In retirement Jinnie moved to Florida with her beloved husband. She remained active teaching line dancing, playing bridge and performing in Parks Edge Community Variety Shows with her retired neighbors and friends. She also volunteered for the Saint Lucie Hospice.
They summered in Ira, Vermont enjoying time with her grandchildren Cheray & Marissa. She enjoyed country walks and the many wonderful West Road neighbors and friends. She hosted family gatherings to reunite with her Pacific Coast grandchildren: Robin, Shaina, Arwen, Margaret, Kay, Eamon & Paul. Jinnie loved her family and fed them from a generous garden. She stayed active with fellow seniors in the Rutland area in the hiking club, line dancing and playing bridge.
Jinnie is survived by her husband Joseph Howell (Port Saint Lucie, FL), and her four children: Marybeth (Ashland, OR), Kerry (Ira, VT), Joseph Jr. (Yakima, WA) and Dayle (Olympia, WA). She will forever be remembered for her gentle, kind and cheerful manner. The family will gather at a later date for a private memorial service.
