I just learned of Bill's death today (3/27/11). He was a colleague and friend of mine at SUNY at Fredonia in the early 60's. I left Fredonia in 1965.

I liked Bill. He was always affable, friendly, with a great sense of humor.

Uncle Bill will be missed.  A great guy and friend to his nieces and nephews.

Please accpet my sincere condolences for the loss of your dear Mr. Neville. I knew Professor Neville as a colleague of mine at SUNY Fredonia. I am in the Economics Department and our association was limited. However, I always respected Professor Neville as a gentelman and a scholar.

  I have very fond memories and deep gratitude for the extra effort Dr. Neville made in helping me through English Comp.   I strugled greatly with english composition and although I tried hard I did not receive the required "C" grade the first time I took the class (with Dr. Calvin Smith).  I spoke to Dr. Neville the first day of the second semester and told him of my plight.  He graciously allowed me to write every composition twice.  After the first writting, which I turned in early, he would take an hour to meet with me.  He would fill my paper with red marks and arrows, rightfully so.    I then rewrote the paper and turned it in.   I received the "C", graduated, and eventually came back to teach at Fredonia State for 25 years.  That was 1964 and I take this opportunity to thank him, and tell his family how grateful I am all these years later.

Dear Sally, Anne, Jane, and Joyce,  Bill and you have been in our thoughts many times since your days at Fredonia. We miss you and the joy you brought so often to our lives.  Bill and I shared a great love of the British romantic poets, and I was happy to find in him a kindred spirit who delighted not only in their best work but in the laughter we gleaned from their less successful efforts. Mrs. Neville, My thoughts are with you and your family. I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Neville's passing. He was a such a great friend to my father, Tris Barnard. I always enjoyed hearing stories of his warmth and sense of humor.

Bill was a great and warm colleague, and an excellent Chairman of the English Department at SUNY Fredonia.  My wife and I fondly remember the annual Kentucky Derby parties that he and Sally gave each year in their home.
Our sincere condolences to Sally, the daughters, and the rest of the family.

Bless you, Sally.  Bill was such a fine guy, and it's a great loss.
