Bill moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida 5 years ago. He had previously spent 55 years in Toledo, Ohio. Bill was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University. He proudly served the 87th Infantry of The United States Army during WWII and was injured in The Battle of The Bulge: thereby earning him a Purple Heart. Bill started running track at a young age. He continued running into his 70’s, and ran in The Senior Olympics for many years. Bill was a natural artist. He loved drawing and continued sharing his drawings well into his 80’s. His first job out of college was as a Political Cartoonist for the Toledo Blade. He then went on to work for Owens Corning Fiberglass for over 30 years as a Packaging Designer. Most cherished to Bill was his family. He was a loving and supportive father to Keith, Dan, and Heidi. He loved the time he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren, establishing close relationships with them all.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Vandivort (Aemisegger); brother, Donald Vandivort; and son, Keith Vandivort.
Survivors include his son, Dan Vandivort (Marie), of Charleston, South Carolina; daughter, Heidi Zalobowski (Joe), of Port St. Lucie, Florida; step-son, Brad Aemisegger (Ninfa), of Maumee, Ohio; step-daughter Sue Zawistowski of Toledo, Ohio; and grandchildren, Chris Vandivort, Amy Vandivort, James Vandivort (Sarah), Tyler Vandivort (Nikki), and Nick Zalobowski (Angelica); step-grandchildren, Bradley and Daniel Aemisegger, Beth Zawistowski; and great granddaughters, Leah Vandivort and Claire Vandivort.
A special thanks to the Veterans Administration, the Alzheimer's Community Care Center's Staff, along with all of Bill's nurses, who all aided and supported in helping him stay living at home till the end.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, May 19th at 1pm at William’s home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. A private Burial Service will be held at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania, Ohio.
