Bev, as she was affectionately known, was an avid storyteller of her travels around the world bringing wonder and imagination to all those who had the privilege of knowing her and listening to her stories. Her journey on this earth was one marked by passion, ambition, and unwavering independence. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact she had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Bev was born in Bryn Mar, Pennsylvania on September 3rd, 1950, to Mildred & Linwood Day, predeceased. She grew up in California before moving to Maine to complete her college education. She graduated from the University of Southern Maine with her bachelor's degree in English. After college, Bev worked at the Portland Press Herald newspaper, following in her father’s footsteps of journalism. Bev’s expansive corporate career spanned the supercomputing and technology industries providing her the opportunity to travel around the globe for work. Bev was an ambitious leader who held many positions within Marketing and Business. Early in her career, she managed to become Vice President of a small marketing firm just four short years after joining as a manager. Bev held roles at firms such as Lockheed Martin, Cray Research Company, and the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine.
Outside of work, Bev spent years traveling around the world, exploring her passion of photography and culture. She went on a safari to Africa where she photographed wildlife up close and engaged with local tribesmen. She traveled often to Europe and even found herself having dinner with the Prime Minister of Canada.
Bev was married in Greece to Alexis Alexandridis, and they spent seven years together. She is survived by her son Jason, and her two grandchildren, Jace & Cassie, from this marriage. Though their relationship turned out to be less permanent than either of them expected, they both went on to live exceptional lives. At the age of 41, Bev had a daughter, Ashley, with her partner, Gary Magill. Bev and Gary were both passionate about business ventures and he enjoyed horses which brought them together.
While living in Colorado in the 70’s, Bev began breeding Arabian horses. Bev was a mensa and enjoyed the science behind genetics and how characteristics were represented in crossing certain animals. This same passion for genetics and the art of breeding led her to build a successful business of breeding Maine Coon Cats.
