Portland- Blye-Ann Dyer (Carson) Grondin passed away on February 9th at the Barron Center in Portland where she had resided for the past 5 years. She was born on March 9, 1933 to the late Ann Coyne and Arthur Carson II. Blye-Ann grew up in the Gorham’s corner area of Portland. She was full of life and always on the go.
Blye could do anything that she set her mind to; she had her own dress shop and flower shop when her children were young. She also loved to make Christmas candy and cakes to bring to the hospital. She loved working at Dimillo’s in the coat check room and the ticket booth, she loved being around people and doing things for others. She was always willing to help anyone in need in any way that she could. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her family out on Casco Bay fishing on the Miss Katie.
Blye-Ann is predeceased by her parents Ann Coyne and Arthur Carson, her brother Scrapper Carson, her X-Husband Bill Sawyer, her son Michael Grondin and a very special cousin Betty Dombrowski who was like a sister to her.
She is survived by three children; Daniel Sawyer and his wife Lynn of Gorham, Katie Storer and her husband Kevin of Gray, and David Grondin and his wife Michele of Portland; seven Grandchildren
Dannietta Storer, David Joseph, Margaret Ann and Olivia Grondin, Kelly, Ryan and Kevin Sawyer; two Great-grandsons Dominic and Gabriel Glasgow; two sisters Lynda Carson and Christine Carson; and a very special niece Lee Peters who lived with and took care of Blye for 9 years. There are also many special cousins and relatives that Blye cared for deeply.
We would like to thank all of the care givers Blye had at the Barron Center with a special thank you to Kim and Whitney who always went above and beyond in caring for mom.
There will be a mass at St. Peter’s Church on Saturday February 15th at 10:00 AM with coffee and tea after in the church hall.
