Bradley Milo Jellison, age 68, of Westbrook, was born in Hartford, Connecticut on 1-31-1952. He died Sunday, February 16, 2020, with both his sisters by his side at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. His father, now deceased, was Milo T. Jellison. His mother is Eleanor Carver of Portland. He is also survived by his sister, Pam Leo, of Portland, his sister and brother-in-law, Kathie and Chris Brown of Gray, five Jellison half siblings, his nieces, Miranda Cassidy, Leah Deragon, and Sage Griffin, his nephew and best friend, Casey Brown, eight great nieces and nephews, one great foster niece, and an extended family of beloved friends.
Brad was a ”Jack of Many Trades” and a ”Master of Some”. He was a reliable, hard worker at every job he ever had, from baker, to driver, to home computer wizard. Brad loved cars and boats and, as he always owned at least half a dozen cars, he kept all of his family and many of his friends, on the road, at one time or another. Brad loved the water, and being on his boat, water skiing, visiting both Higgins Beach and Acadia brought him great joy. He also love cameras and always took many pictures of the places, people, and pets he loved.
Brad took pride in maintaining and improving his home and his garden. He was a pioneer as a young gay man trying to navigate his way in the world long before there was the acceptance and support there is today. He worked all his adult life at self-improvement, self-acceptance, and personal growth. His was always a spiritual seeker and his faith in God was central to how he lived every day of the final months of his life.
Brad was passionate about politics, and will be remembered with a smile by all who loved him for his lightning-quick, razor-sharp wit. He was a collector whose favorite store was Goodwill. He had an eye for bargains on fine pieces of stained glass, pewter, brass, and marble statues, and antique toys. His home was filled with his many treasures.
Most of all, Brad loved people. His friends were family to him, and his door was always open to all who sought refuge there. Brad had no children of his own, but he was loved by the children in his life who also loved his snake and his many cool toys. Brad was a generous, gentle, kind man whose favorite word was joy.
Brad’s extended family and close friends will be notified of the date, location, and time of a Remembrance Gathering being planned to honor his life.
