Cheryl Lorraine Fitch

December 4, 1943May 13, 2020

Bridgton- Cheryl L. Fitch, 76, of Bridgton passed away peacefully on May 13, 2020 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on December 4, 1943 to Warren and Pauline (Storer) Strout of Raymond, Maine. She attended Raymond schools, then North Yarmouth Academy where she married her High School sweetheart and started a family. Cheryl continued her education by studying for and earning a Cosmetologist license in the early 1970’s. She loved being a hairdresser and owned several shops during her career of over 30 years. She always loved friendly engagement and chatting with the people she came across, whether a regular customer or someone at the local diner. She was proud of being born a Strout and having the historical family connection to Maine, from her farming family in Raymond, to distant relatives who were Lighthouse Keepers at Portland Headlight. Cheryl was happy living a simple, rural life and her passions and hobbies reflected that. She loved wild Maine blueberries- picking, cooking and sharing her pies. Nothing in the world would please her more to eat than a Maine Lobster (…and some fresh corn on the cob). She loved to quilt, sew, braid rugs and so much more. She could build things, grow things, fix things and always created a cozy and welcoming home. Above all other achievements, Cheryl would be most proud of being a Mother to her four children who can all celebrate what a kind and loving parent she was. Of all the lessons that she taught her children, perhaps the most significant is to live life with purpose and to never apologize for who they are. She always supported their endeavors and even worked alongside one son in several of his business ventures.

Cheryl seemed to always arrive with a jar of homemade pickles or some jam or bread that she just made. She happily sewed quilts and/or braided rugs for all of her children and most of her grandchildren which will be cherished for generations to come. She never complained about her lot in life. She always made the best of what she had and always tried to keep learning and trying new things. She stayed busy and productive in her home (especially the kitchen) right up through her last days, making things for her loved ones. Preceding her in death were her parents, and her stepson Mark Fitch. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Mike Fitch of Bridgton, her son Michael Morin and his wife Kristine of Bowdoinham, her son Edward Morin Greenier and his husband Terry of Orono, her daughter Tammy (Morin) Garcia and her husband Rick of New Gloucester, her son Christopher Morin and his partner Ellen of Somersworth, NewHampshire, . Her 7 grandchildren, Dustin, Sarah, Nathan, Anya, Lindsey, Audrey and Benjamin (also their spouses and partners) and her 7 great grandchildren, Cameron, Lilliana, Ava, Carly, Samuel, Annastasia and Maximus. Four brothers- Dave and his wife Pearl of South Paris, Steve and his wife Marge of Jacksonville, Florida, Bill and his wife Val of Casco, and Bob and his partner Tina of Sanford. Fortunately, Cheryl and her loved ones had the opportunity to visit during this last period of her life. No funeral or memorial service is planned at this point. Rather than flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be given to Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice who took such wonderful, sensitive care of her during her last weeks and days.
