GRAY – After a short period of rapidly declining health, Clark Adna Taylor, Jr. passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025. Born on July 15, 1935, to Clark Adna Taylor, Sr. and wife Florence, Clark was 89.
As an avid hunter, Clark, friends and family members built a camp on the edge of Sunday River for hunting, hiking and skiing. He retreated there for 2 weeks every year for hunting season.
Single-handedly, he designed and built from the foundation up the family home in Cumberland, where his family enjoyed a wonderful life growing up and going to school there. Clark was a volunteer member of the Cumberland Fire Department. Many years later, they moved to Gray.
Clark worked for the Maine Department of Transportation as a test boring engineer for 25 years. He was proud of his work, especially on Interstate 295 and Tukey’s bridge, as he loved to share his stories later in life. After retiring from MDOT, Clark worked a few small jobs but went on to work a second career for Purolater Shipping and Freight.
Upon his second retirement, with Jeannette Elise (Stewart) Taylor, his loving wife of 68 years, they traveled the country for several months in their RV staying in National Parks along the way. Eventually they became campground hosts at Acadia National Park lasting 5 years.
Lovingly referred to as “Pappy” by family and friends, Clark was known as the most honest man alive. He was an avid outdoorsman. Being a member of the Sha-Goi-Watha Sportsmen Club (Portland/Otisfield), along with being involved with the Boy Scouts, he climbed Mt. Katahdin 20 times. He was also one of the founding members of the Moonlight Snow Skimmers (Cumberland) snowmobile club.
Sadly, Clark leaves behind his wife Jeannette E. (Stewart) Taylor, Son, William C. Taylor (wife Jane) and a Daughter, Kelley (Taylor) Young (husband Scott); Grandchildren Toby Young (wife Page), Amy (Young) Kilburn (husband Dustin), Jessica (Taylor) Donahue (husband Quinton), Kasey (Taylor) Brady (husband David); 4 Great Grandchildren, Callie and Charlotte Kilburn,

There will be no service as per his wishes, Clark will be cremated with his ashes being distributed over his favorite places.
The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care Clark received from the nurses at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth and Affinity Hospice Care of Maine.
