He was born February 23, 1937 in Dannemora, New York the son of Michael and Leona Kelly.
While in Dannemora High School, he scored 59 points in one game of basketball. The record has not been broken to date.
Kelly entered the Marine Corps where he proudly served his country from 1956 – 1959. He then was transferred to Portsmouth Prison as a guard.
He came to Portland, Maine and became a policeman until retiring in 1983. He then started working at the Portland Post Office and retired after 25 years.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years Judith (Mingo) Kelly, three sons, Scott Kelly, Steven Kelly, and Ted Talbot, a daughter Judith Talbot, and grandson Matthew Talbot.
He was fondly called “Uncle Cleo” by many nieces and nephews.
He will be sadly missed by family and good friends.
