

Cynthia (Cindy) Lee Aalto (formerly Case), 72, passed away on May 5, 2026, in Portland, Maine, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Cindy was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1953, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Barbara and Allen Case.
Cindy loved taking vacations and was especially enchanted by her trips to the theme parks in Florida, including one last fun-filled birthday trip with her husband in December 2025. She also enjoyed hosting family gatherings, listening to country music, cooking, swimming, and fishing. Cindy took pride in being a homemaker and truly enjoyed working. She held many jobs over the years, particularly in hospitality, and worked alongside her late best friend, Sue Perry, at the Pleasant Point Inn in Lovell, Maine, where she served as Innkeeper for over fourteen years. Most of all, Cindy cherished time spent with her family and friends.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband of forty-three years, Matti Aalto, Jr. of Portland, Maine; her three children, Paul Novak of Auburn, Illinois, Paula Baines of Chatham, New Hampshire, and Victoria Companero of Manchester, New Hampshire; her stepson, Omar (Little Matti) Reyes Abdul Malik of Denver, Colorado; and her two stepdaughters, Linda Aalto of Portland, Maine, and Jennifer Aalto of Saco, Maine. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Allena Pond of Biddeford, Maine; Roberta Graffam of West Enfield, Maine; Barbara Ellen
Karp of Portland, Oregon; Kathy Kellerher of Salem, Massachusetts; Patricia Litcher of Biddeford, Maine; and her brother, Allen Case of Morrison, Florida.
She was predeceased by her sister, Martha Reynolds, and her son, Christopher Companero in 2024.
Arrangements are under the care of Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services in Portland, Maine.

A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held on May 31, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Westbrook Eagles Club, 89 Saco Street, Westbrook, Maine. All who knew and loved Cindy are invited to attend.
