Cynthia was born on September 7th, 1957 in Portland Maine, to Marjorie and Alfred Brown. Cynthia was the third of six children. She grew up in Cumberland and graduated from Greely High School in June of 1975. Following her high school graduation Cynthia had a long and successful career in retail management. She began her career at just 19 years old as a manager for Kings department store. She later worked for Ames stores traveling the country as part of their corporate expansion team. She enjoyed 17 years as a store manager for Burlington Coat Factory where she won many awards and accolades. Aside from her professional achievements Cynthia became well known and respected as a mentor to many. In her spare time, Cynthia enjoyed drawing and was a patron to the performing arts. Above all else, her biggest passion was her family. Cynthia loved and cherished being a mother, not only to her own daughter but also to anyone who needed mothering. She enjoyed spending time and making memories with her large extended family. Cynthia was preceded by her loving parents Marjorie and Alfred Brown as well as by her beloved sister Terri Prescott. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Leibowitz, son-in-law Danny Leibowitz and grandson Benjamin Leibowitz. She is also survived by her brother Michael Brown and sister-in-law Janice Brown, her brother James Brown and sister-in-law Carilla Brown, brother Edward Brown, her sister Andrea Knight and brother-in-law Robert Knight as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
