Darryl is survived by his beloved children, Alexis Dotson, Darryl Dotson Jr., and Austin Shirley, his granddaughter Madasyn Dotson, whom he cherished dearly, his Step-mother Charlene Block, His sister Rachel Sizemore, his brother Michael Dotson, his ex-wife Denys Newton, and his niece Stephanie Tuell. His legacy lives on through his family, who he loved deeply, and to whom he was wholly devoted. The memories his family hold of Darryl are ones of laughter, love, and an abiding sense of togetherness.
A man of simple pleasures, Darryl savored the taste of homemade mac and cheese, meatloaf, butter rum Lifesavers, Pizza Combos, and brownie Hershey kisses. He enjoyed a good can of Diet Pepsi or a glass of chocolate milk. His favorite tunes were by Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Metallica, and Ozzy Osbourne. He loved watching Duck Dynasty, The Office, and WWE on television, and his favorite movies included Pink Floyd The Wall, Black Hawk Down, Full Metal Jacket, New Jack City, and Saving Private Ryan.
Darryl took delight in outdoor activities such as fishing and walking, with the Maine state pier being his favorite local spot. He relished spending time with his granddaughter Madasyn, a source of joy and pride for him. Darryl was a man who was described by those who knew him as funny, strong, brave, and family-oriented.
Known for his resilience, Darryl fought bravely and fiercely for what was important to him. He treated everyone he met with respect, an attribute he sought to instill in those around him. Among his greatest accomplishments were building a loving family and being there for them when they needed it most. His legacy is one of bravery, respect, and honor.
