David Charles Blanchard

The peaceful passing of David Charles Blanchard 82 at his farm in Limington Maine December 30, 2020. Dave was Born in Franklin NH September 21,1938 and was affectionately known as The Old Cowboy by family and friends. Dave was predeceased by his parents Charles and Ruth Blanchard Sr, Sister Edith Robie, Brother Frank Blanchard, Son David Blanchard Jr, Grandson David Blanchard the Third. Dave is survived by his Loyal and Loving Companion MaryAnn, Daughter Deb LeClair and Sisters Mary Boulerisse and Husband Ray, Ruth McDaniel and husband Andrew, Barbara Summerall, Jane Hanson and Husband Dean, Brother Charles Blanchard Jr and Friend Eve. Several Grand Children, Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews, His favorite horse Boy and his dog Cubby. David Served in the US Navy and when off duty competed in the local rodeos roping and bull riding. Dave was an accomplished horseman starting at eleven years old driving a draft horse team on his father’s logging crew. Dave also drove draft horse teams for Carriages of Arcadia Seal Harbor Me, Mount Washington Hotel Bretton Woods NH and many others. Dave operated his own horse-riding stables and was a very successful horse trainer and Ferrier. Dave was well known for training and racing standardbred horses on the harness racing circuit. Dave also worked construction assembling high steel buildings for MacMillan Company, Seppala & Aho Construction and several other companies. Dave was a Great story teller, enjoyed playing guitar, singing old country and western songs along with his favorite Gospel Hymns with his Family and friends. A Celebration of life will be held on the farm in the spring.
