He was born on September 22, 1971, in Lewiston, Maine to parents Allen D. and Betty L. Burnham.
David graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn, Maine in 1990. David began working around Lewiston and Auburn at a young age. He worked alongside of his mother for many years for C21 Advantage Realty in Lewiston, before an accident in 2006 left him disabled.
David’s chronic illness never kept him from teaching, playing, reading, and riding around on the four-wheeler or lawn mower. He was an outdoor enthusiast and an avid fisherman. He found peace fishing all over Maine. He grew up in Rangely, Maine with a camp he loved year-round. Everyone has a “Dave” or “Strouty” story, fishing or hunting with him.
David was an only child, but considered his cousin, Jess Burnham, his brother whom he loved and cared for until his death. David also had childhood friends with whom he formed a brother-like bond: Bob, Greg, Don, Jason, and Mike.
He is survived by his wife Betsy, daughter Paige and husband Matthew Walsh of Auburn, son Jacob, and aunt Patricia Burnham of Auburn. He is also survived by brother-in-law Mark Strout and wife Nicole of Albion, Maine. Sisters-in-law Debra Strout and partner Michelle Fowler of Oakland, Maine; Lori Clark and husband John Clark of Canaan, Maine; Sharon Fowler and husband Edgar Fowler of Oakland, Maine; and Pamela Strout of Wales, Maine. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, and nieces as well as his only two grandchildren: Kaia and William Walsh – they were “Papa’s” pride and pure joy. David is also survived by life-long neighbor and friend Jim ”Jimbo” Johnson.
Per his request, there will be no service.
The family will gather in the spring to celebrate his life in Rangely, Maine.
The family and David would like to thank the doctors and nurses and ICU team of Central Maine Medical Center, who have taken care of him throughout his journey of chronic illness and injuries, and with Guillain-Barré Syndrome/Miller Fisher.
