Delores Isabelle Brown, a remarkable woman of 91, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025. A proud Canadian immigrant, Delores cherished her US citizenship and often shared her Canadian roots with others. Her life took a romantic turn when she met and fell in love with her husband, Howard, in Portland. Delores dedicated her long career to the Portland school department, taking immense pride in her work. Later in life, she found joy in her “retirement job” at Gray Supermarket, where everyone knew her by name.
Delores cherished her time with family and friends, and she particularly enjoyed outings to the Brownfield Market with a wonderful group of friends. She prided herself on her family and was always attentive to her grandson, Lavon. More recently, she found great happiness in watching and cheering on her great-grandson, Ryder, during his sporting events.
Delores was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Howard; son, Richard; daughter, Linda Espinoza; sister, Roberta Smith; brother, George Flemming; sister, Louise Earley; and brother, Dale Flemming. She leaves behind a grandson, Lavon Mckoy; granddaughter, Randi Mckoy; and great grandson, Ryder Mckoy. Her brother, Charles Flemming; sister, Brenda Haskell; sister, Darlene Hoyt; and sister, Sheri Kimball, also survived her. Additionally, she was embraced by an extended Varney family who took her under their wing.
In recent years, Delores was incredibly fortunate to have a close-knit church family, friends, and neighbors who supported her throughout her life.
