

Dorothy Ann Finley passed away peacefully on January 20th at Windward Gardens, Camden Me. She was born on December 13, 1918 in Norwood, Ma. , one of five children to the late Leo and Julia (Curran) McTernan. She grew up in Norwood and graduated from Norwood High School
On November 20th, 1941 she married Thomas Francis Finley. They were married for 64 years until his death in 2005. The Finleys raised 5 children.
Mrs. Finley was a homemaker while her children were growing up and is remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. After moving from Norwood in the late 1950s the family lived in Cherry Hill NJ and Chevy Chase Md. She always looked forward to spending her summers at "Sans Souci", the family summer home on Peaks Island, Maine. She and the family moved there permanently in the 1970s - she loved living on the island and loved all the island people.
Dorothy loved to travel and she and her husband made many trips to Ireland. While in Ireland they stayed with Tom’s cousins Judy and Shawn Fennelly. She also enjoyed going on vacations to Florida and North Conway NH with her family. She loved to read, watch the Red Sox and Patriots, however her greatest pleasure was just spending time with her family. The family home on Peaks Island became the gathering place for family and friends over the many years she lived there.
Besides her husband Tom, Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her sister Marion Buckley, brothers Francis McTernan, Leo McTernan, Charles McTernan and her grandson Derek Finley.
She is survived by her five children Thomas Finley and his wife Joyce of San Diego, Ca., Brian Finley of Rockland, Me., Gary Finley and his wife Maureen of Kittery, Me., Rober Finley and his wife Tina of Standish, Me., and Dorothy Crane and her husband George of Brockton, Ma.; also 10 grandchildren ,16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the residents and staff of the Park Danforth for making Dorothy’s final years so enjoyable.
At the request of the family, all funeral arrangements and burial
will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial well be celebrated at a later date. Those who knew Dorothy, please remember her with a smile - she had a long and lovely life.
