

Portland, ME – Edward Henry Lecours Jr., 79, of Windham died on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Maine Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Margaret E. (Cram) Lecours who died in May 1996. He was known to his grandchildren and many as Banka.
He was born in Nobleboro, ME on September 19, 1935 a son of the late Edward H. & Doris (Watson) Lecours Sr. Ed grew up in Nobleboro, attending local area schools before joining the US Air Force in 1955, where he served four years during the Korean Conflict, serving on a radio base in Greenland.
Shortly after returning from his service, he went to work for Merrill’s Transportation. He married Margaret E. Cram March of 1963. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Ed enjoyed walking around the town of Windham and spent the past seventeen years doing just that. He would stop at several local businesses and would chat with everyone. His red backpack and walker have become a fixture in Windham and will be sadly missed. He also enjoyed his rabbit Pretty Boy, which for the past four years was an important part of his daily routine; he trained it to do trick as well as took it on several of his walks.
He will be greatly missed his daughter Dorothy L. Merrill and her husband Michael of Windham, his son Edward H. Lecours III of Freeport, his three grandsons Michael and his wife Jenn of Oklahoma, Scott of Gray and Bruce of Windham, a great grandson Seth and four great granddaughters Nicole, Desirae, Hailee and Annabelle. He also leaves four siblings, Grace Newdick of Durham, Stanley L. Lecours of Portland, Philip L. Lecours of California and Jean Masker of Gorham as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Linda Paul and Yvonne Grover.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress Street, Portland.
