Elinor C. (Rogers) Henckel

Elli, called by those who knew her, was born on June 16, 1927 in Quincy, MA a daughter of the late Albert O. & Irma A. (Reviere) Rogers.  She lived in Quincy, MA before moving to Marblehead, MA.  From there, she moved to Gorham, ME where she met and married the love of her life William Henckel. 

She worked as a cashier for Foodland Supermarket in Salem for a number of years before retiring in 1988.

Elinor enjoyed doing puzzles and playing all types of card games as well as reading, especially anything by her favorite author Debbie Macomber. 

She is survived by her daughter Claire Losardo of Arkansas; two step sons James “JC” Henckel of Scarborough, ME and Paul Henckel of Old Orchard Beach and a step daughter Catherine Henckel.  She was also the step mother of the late Johnny Henckel.  She also leaves her cousins Pauline (Reviere) Holiman and her husband Norm of Narragansett, RI, Leslie (Reviere) Whidden of Quincy MA and George Reviere and his wife Lois of Kingston, MA as well as three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was also the sister of the late Grace Santierre, Alberta Birchmore, Norma Robinson, Irma DePolo, Albert Rogers and Paul Rogers. 

In the final months of her life Blanche and Shiri McNiel and Norma Robinson tended to her every care and need.  The family also wishes to thank Allison, Amy, Eddi and Cindy as well as the entire staff of Southern Hospice of Maine for their support and care.  Also Auntie wanted to thank to give a special thanks to those who attended her reminiscing birthday party; Cheryl, Karen, Tom, Dawna and Blanche; thanks for the beautiful day!

A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date 

She will be buried next to her husband in Eastern Cemetery, Gorham
