Erica J. "Shorty" Norton

She was born on June 24, 1987 in Torrington, CT. The daughter of Kimberly A. (Norton) Kokiel and her husband Michael of Chelsea, ME and paternal father Eric Allen and his Wife Sherrie of Arizona. Erica lived in Bristol, CT until the age of 12 when she moved to Turner, ME. She graduated from Leavitt High School in 2004 and was attending CMCC, majoring in Computers and Information Technology.

Before returning to CMCC as a full time student, Erica worked in Lewiston at Tim Horton’s where she ran the bakery. While in High School, she ran track and field and was a member of the cheerleading squad and played a little clarinet. She also enjoyed all types of music, especially Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.

She was a devoted mother to her son Shayne A. Henry of Sabattus, the light of her life was her “little man” who was her greatest joy, Shayne was her world, and everything revolved around her Shaynie.

Besides her parents and her son, she also leaves two sisters Patricia Kokiel of Greene, ME and Tessa Kokiel of Chelsea, ME, her maternal grandmother Jean Childs of Wales, ME, grandparents Mike and Judith Kokiel of Bristol, CT., Harold and Patty Vandusen of Dade City Fl., and her fiancée, Louie Nava, with whom she lived with in Sabauttus. The two were considered Bonnie & Clyde. She also is survived by many cousins, including Lacie and Tommy Currier and “Little” Michael Kokiel as well as several aunts and uncles. She was also the granddaughter of the late Henry R. Norton, who died in May 1991.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 12 – 2 p.m. in the Chapman Gathering Room at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 980 Turner Street, Auburn, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Gracelawn with Rev. Philip Shearman officiating.
