

Ernest (Rick) Rickards age 67 passed on January 19, 2022 with his wife and family members by his side. Rick was born on October 13,1954, the son of Ernest and Mary (Gammon) Rickards. Rick graduated from Telestar High School class of of 1973. He was employed in North Carolina and New Hampshire as a welder until he settled back in Maine when he met his wife Carole. He worked as a millwright in several mills, worked construction and carpentry until he settled in as a bridge worker for the Maine state DOT for 20 years.
Rick enjoyed a lot of hobbies; playing guitar, carpentry, metal sculpting, fishing with his buddy Mark, continuing to make improvements on the home that he built. Rick was very much a dog lover and enjoyed giving his pets unique nicknames that fit their personalities. Rick was very easy to talk to and made company feel at ease when they came for a visit.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Carole (Madore) of Peru, Me., foster son Chris Genesse, wife Jen, and 3 daughters of OK, six sisters Rosalie Holiday of Bethel, Barbara Dakin of Thomaston, June Inman and husband Mike of Albany Me., Kathy Tibbetts of Bethel, Patti Wood and husband Steve of Warren, and Judy Conrad and husband Garth of Andover., three brothers, Howard Bailey and wife Laurie of Andover, Donald Bailey and wife Barb of Appomattox, VA., and Randy Rickards and wife Ginny of Thomaston, three brother-in-laws, Mike Madore and wife Sharon of Rumford, Jim Madore and wife Doreen of Dixfield, and Jimmy Young of Bethel, a sisters-in-law Diane DeFillip and husband Steve of Portland, Sharon Rickards of Rumford and her Companion Chip Carver; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was predeceased by his father Ernest Rickards, father Clarence Bailey, Mother Mary Gammon Rickards Bailey, brother Barry Rickards, sister Nancy B Young, paternal grandmother "Grammie Floss" and brothers-in-law Brian Tibbets and Jack Holiday. Rick will be greatly missed by many.
