

Scarborough-Fred L. Homsy, 89, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine died peacefully on Monday May 4, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough Maine. The son of Mable Maloof and Elia Homsy, he was born on August 5, 1925 in Boston, MA. Fred joined the Navy in December 1942 and was honorably discharged in August of 1946. He was a Gunner’s Mate and 3rd Class Petty Officer.
Fred was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Katherine for fifty years. Fred and Katherine were residents of Zephyrhills Florida for twenty years, before moving to Concord, NH. Fred loved spending time with his family, watching the Red Sox, and enjoyed the company of everyone he met. He was an avid walker and logged miles at a time on his daily strolls.
Fred was predeceased by his wife Katherine Homsy, stepson Michael Perkins, a grandson Michael Bunnell, sisters Alice Zucalla and her husband Anthony and Georgette Umbro and husband Tony, and brothers George Homsy and wife Ruth, and Robert Homsy.
He is survived by his brother, Albert Homsy, daughter Yvette Elliott of Cape Elizabeth Maine, step daughter Carol Mitchell of Raymond NH, three grandsons, John Bunnell, Christopher Bunnell, and Justin Robbins and several nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved deeply.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the loving care of Fred in his last days.
