
She was born in Phippsburg, ME on January 27, 1933 the daughter of the late Herbert & Norena (Hartford) Scott. She attended local area schools and graduated from Morse High School in Bath and went on to spend most of her life in Phippsburg.
Gladys spent about ten years working for Bath Iron Works as an Administrative Assistance before retiring in 1998. She and her husband belonged to the Elks Lodge in Gardiner for many years before his passing.
She enjoyed traveling; she especially enjoyed visiting her son Peter, who moved often with the military. She also enjoyed her flower gardens and loved listening to Willie Nelson’s music. Her true passion however was her family.
She is survived by her three sons Peter Gomes and his wife Cheryl of Green Cove Springs, FL, Carl Wallace and his wife Christine of Gardiner, ME and Duane Gomez of Maine, her two daughters Holly Gomez of Maine and Sally Sylvain and her husband Barry of Phippsburg and her nine grandchildren Erik, Larry, Paul, Christina, Phillip, Tasha, Brianna, Joy and Erica. She also leaves numerous grandchildren and a brother Eldon Scott and his wife Judy of Myrtle Beach, SC as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Lawrence Scott.
A private graveside service will be held at Morningside Cemetery, in Parker’s Head, ME.
