

She was born in Portland, ME on October 1, 1941 a daughter of the late Neil T. & Margaret (Peters) Keene. Helen grew up in Portland, attending local area schools and graduated from Portland High School.
Helen worked as an insurance agent at Clark Insurance for many years before retiring in 2004. She also enjoyed gardening and doing crafts; however one of her biggest joys was cooking and feeding family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Ann-Marie Swasey and her husband Everett of Hollis and her son John “Jay” Hughes of Minnesota, as well as her granddaughter’s Kaleigh Swasey of Waterville and Ashleigh Swasey of Hollis.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all staff at the Gosnell House for your care and support for Helen and her family. Words cannot express how wonderful you all were.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Helen’s life on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Chap’s Saloon Function Room, 1301 Long Plains Rd, Buxton.
