

John was born in Machias, ME on September 5, 1959 a son on the late Clyde & Katherine A. (Foss) Crockett. He attended schools in Machias and was a member of the Machias Memorial High School graduating class of 1969.
John was a meat cutter by trade and was well known in the Machias area before working at Paul’s Grocer in Portland. The past few years he was employed at the Salvation Army Shelter on Preble Street as a “jack of all trades” maintenance man.
John was passionate about woodworking and loved the light pine finish. He also collected stamps and greatly enjoyed outdoor activities, especially the times spent at Bog Lake. John was also a great storyteller who captivated his audiences.
He is survived by his two daughters; Laura C. Blake and her husband Rob of Hampden and Abby C. Gray and Todd of Marshfield and their mother Diane C. (Altmannsberger) Crockett of Machias. He also leaves his four grandchildren, Keenan, Ryley, Allison and Jillian as well as his sister Helen Wass of Cherryfield and his nephew Kenny Melillo of Guilford, CT. John was also the father of the late Matthew A. Crockett, who passed away in 1979. He will be sadly missed by not only his family, but his many great friends in Machias and at the Salvation Army ARC.
Services will be private and arranged by the family.
