Lewiston - Ken "Smoothy" Smotherman, 68, of Lewiston, Maine passed away peacefully at home in his sleep. He was born in Portland, Maine on November 14, 1957, a son of John Byrns Smotherman and Phyllis Gabrielle Noel. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1976. He had an adventurous life with different jobs working as stage crew and security for Northeast Concerts, driving tractor trailers over the road, apartment building maintenance, driving dump trucks and paving. He was most proud when producing and editing his own motorcycle television show, "The Build", shown on a local cable channel.
Ken loved helping others, especially the elderly. His friends would often come to him for advice on many different subjects. He enjoyed cooking, riding motorcycles and had a love for cats. He was famous with friends and family to make us laugh for hours with his lifetime stories.
Ken is survived by his wife Rhonda, his mother Phyllis Smotherman of Lewiston, 2 brothers: Pat Arthur and wife Sandy of Greene, Dan Arthur and wife Tammy of North Carolina, a sister Dian Miller and husband Mark of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Brian Smotherman.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 30th at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club, 1327 Sabattus Street, Lewiston from 2 pm to 5 pm. In lieu of sending flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, 55 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04240 in Ken Smotherman's memory.
