Marjorie Frances Brown

Marjorie F. Brown, 87, of Cumberland, Maine, passed away on September 15, 2026, in Portland, Maine, after a brief illness. Born on January 23, 1939, in Topsfield, Massachusetts, to Marion Griffin and John F. Connors, Marge grew up in a close-knit community that remained an important part of her story. She was educated in Topsfield schools and was proud to be one of only 12 graduates in her senior class at Topsfield High School.

Marge married Donald E. Brown of Cumberland in 1956. Together, Marge and Don built a life filled with devotion, family, friendship, and adventure, celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary in July.

Following retirement, Marge and Don sold their home in Cumberland and set out to see the country in a motorhome. They enjoyed many wonderful years on the road, traveling to new places and making lifelong friends along the way. They spent winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and returned to Maine each summer to Pine Tree Acres in Buckfield, a favorite place where they were surrounded by more longtime friends. Active in several RV organizations, Marge especially enjoyed bringing people together through potluck dinners, baked bean suppers, and community breakfasts during their travels. She also found joy in her many crafts, including sewing, knitting, and Swedish weaving of afghans.

In later years, Marge and Don returned to Cumberland, where she made her home until her death. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Donald E. Brown of Cumberland; her children, Jeffrey Brown of Bonney Lake, Washington, David Brown of Gray, Maine, Kathleen Vincent of Yarmouth, Maine, Andrew Brown of New Gloucester, Maine, and Michael Brown of New Gloucester, Maine; nine grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Marion and John Connors; her brother, John F. Connors Jr. of Topsfield; and her sister, Helen Sharp of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Samuel Zager, M.D., David Ghiorsi, PA-C, and their caring staff for their many years of care and compassion. The family also wishes to thank the nurses and staff on Units 6 and 2 at Seaside and Andwell Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Marge and her family over the past few weeks.

Arrangements are under the care of Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, and a graveside service will be announced at a later date.
