Mary Ellen Hicks

Durham, ME - Mary Ellen (Vaillancourt) Hicks, born July 29, 1953 the daughter of Ludger & Geraldine Vaillancourt, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her children on Thursday, July 2, 2020.

Mary is preceded by both her parents, two brothers Kenneth & Timothy Vaillancourt, and two sisters Debbie Davis & Patricia Knight.

She is survived by her three sons, Joseph Hicks, Dana Hicks & wife Jasmine, and Allen Hicks & wife Crystal. Her brother Allen Vaillancourt, sisters Margaret Wilmot, Teresa Garnett, Donna Farnham and Jean Carver, as well as eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Mary had a beautiful soul and touched the lives of all who knew her. Especially the friends her boys brought home because she made it clear she loved them all as her own. She enjoyed cooking so much, she made a career as a chef. Mary also ran an in-home day care for many years before her health caused her to stop working.

For those who had the pleasure of knowing Mary, knew she was incredibly selfless and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. Mary truly loved others with her whole heart and shared her love for the Lord with anyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank Chris Wallace for the amazing hospitality he provided for her during her last months of her life.

Although a funeral service will not be held, a Celebration of Life will be at a later date for family & friends that has yet to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that if you want to honor Mary, please reach out to an estranged loved one and tell them you love them because tomorrow is never promised.
