Nancy Jackson

Nancy was born on November 11th, 1937, in Billerica, Massachusetts, daughter of Robert H. and Elizabeth F. Fowler. She spent her youth in Billerica together with her sister and best friend, Beth. Nancy and her sister also spent most summers at Camp Kuhnawaumbek in Convene, Maine, along with significant time in Freedom, New Hampshire, at her paternal family homestead.

Nancy graduated from Billerica's Howe High School in 1955. She was subsequently educated as a secretary, and, with her innate organizational abilities, pursued a long and successful career. She worked at Lesley College in Cambridge, Mass General Hospital in Boston, Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and Osteopathic Hospital and Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Even after retirement, Nancy's strong work ethic moved her to continue in a part-time position at a local hotel near her home in South Portland.

In December 1970, Nancy met Russell Jackson in Boston. Russell would be the love of her life forever after. They were married on December 14th, 1974, in Andover, Massachusetts, and went on to share a life of devotion, mutual respect, and true friendship for the next 51 years. They lived in several New England states before settling in their long-time home in South Portland, Maine. Together they especially enjoyed escaping the Maine winters for the warmth and sunshine of Palm Springs, California, and the Gulf Coast of Florida.

Nancy enjoyed traveling, rug hooking, cooking (her blueberry muffins were amazing), and most of all spending precious time with family. She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, resilience, and warmth of heart.

Nancy is survived by her beloved husband Russell; sister Beth Hentz of Dover, New Hampshire; niece Karen Merriam and her husband Brent Merriam of Epping, New Hampshire; nephew Richard Hentz and his wife Alexandra Hentz of Barrington, Rhode Island; and grand-nieces Ava Hentz, Maielle Merriam, and Isabella Hentz.

A small graveside service will be held at Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica, Massachusetts at a future date yet to be determined.
