Nancy was born in South Orrington, Maine on June 7, 1927 to Earl Volentine Clark and Hope Ellison Clark. An only child, she was raised by her mother and grandmother to be a strong, independent woman and started working as a young teen to help support her household. After graduating from Roslindale High School in Massachusetts in 1945, Nancy joined the Cadet Nurse Corp and began her training at Choate Memorial Hospital in Woburn, Massachusetts. She was unable to complete her training due to a bout of rheumatic fever. Nancy married Lannis M. Snow on March 14, 1952 in Roxbury, Massachusetts and together they raised their four children. Nancy later returned to nursing education, and at the age of 45 earned her LPN degree from Keefe Vocational-Technical School in Framingham, Massachusetts. She worked as a nurse at Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick, Massachusetts and Memorial Hospital in North Conway, New Hampshire, and was a private duty nurse for agencies in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Florida.
Active in her local churches, Nancy sang in church choirs and served on various church committees at Framingham Congregational Church in Massachusetts and Port Orange United Congregational Church in Florida. While bringing up her children, Nancy volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, opened her home to exchange students and served as a coordinator for American Field Service, a worldwide student exchange program. With her close friends, she did volunteer work at Massachusetts Correctional Institution for Women. Later in life, Nancy became a Reiki II practitioner and a Hospice Volunteer. Nancy’s sense of humor was especially appreciated by her friends, relatives and OceanView “family”. Always a devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed family time, telling family stories, recounting nursing experiences and giving “free advice” on proper nursing care to her caretakers.
Nancy will be missed and remembered by her three surviving children: Alison E. Snow of Manchester, New Hampshire, Linda B. Snow of North Yarmouth, Maine, and Lannis M. Snow, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida, and her son-in-law Terence Cronin of Topsham, Maine. She leaves three grandchildren: Robyn Stokowski, Randi Gifford and Sam Snow-Cronin. Nancy adored her five great-grandchildren: Danielle and Aaron Stokowski, Christopher and Cory Nason, and Cody Meade, and treasured her six great-great grandchildren: Hunter, Annelise, Cory Jr, Autumn, Wyatt, Waylon and Rhyder. Nancy was pre-deceased by her husband Lannis Snow, her daughter Carolyn Nason Swan and her great-granddaughter Amanda Hope Stokowski.
Her family wishes to extend their gratitude to the many skilled OceanView staff who kept Nancy safe and consistently provided generous, loving care.A celebration of Nancy’s life will take place on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 2 PM in the activity room at Blueberry Commons on Marion Way in Falmouth, Maine. It was Nancy’s wish that people wear bright colors to celebrate her life. Burial will take place at Blanchard cemetery with a private family ceremony.Donations in memory of Nancy may be made to the Michael J.
