

Scarborough, ME – Norman F. Cash Sr., 76, of Portland died with his family by his side on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. He was the loving husband of Flora T. (Dennison) Cash.
He was born in South Portland, ME on April 27, 1936 a son of the late Winfield A. & Clara E. (Emmerson) Cash Sr. Norman grew up in South Portland, attending local area schools. As a young adult he served his country in the National Guard for two years.
Norman and Flora were married on April 6, 1963 and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the coming weeks.
He spent most of his life driving trucks for companies such as Congdon Transportation and Shurtleff Salt Company both based out of Portland; he used to do long distance runs for Shurtleff. Before retiring to back injuries, he was working as a security guard for Publicover in Portland.
Norman enjoyed watching Westerns, especially those featuring John Wayne; his DvD collection was a site to see. He also enjoyed Johnny Cash and chocolate ice cream. Spending time with his family however was what he loved the most and his facial expressions were certainly unique and will be remembered for years to come.
Besides his wife Flora, he is survived by his five children Evelyn L. Cash and her companion Jim Reed of Saco, Norma Jean Jenks and her husband Griff of Scarborough, Penny M. Wood and her husband Rick Jr. of Portland, Norm F. Cash Jr. and his wife Betty Jo of Windham and Lori L. Jaynes and her husband Chuck of Scarborough. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his nine siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. at Grace Church, 628 Gray Road (route 202), Windham. A funeral service will be held at the church on Friday, March 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
