Pam was born on February 1, 1964, in Southbridge, MA, and grew up in Sturbridge, MA. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1982 and later earned her bachelor’s degree from Anna Maria College, Paxton, MA.
After college, Pam moved to Carrabassett Valley, ME, where she worked as a reporter for the local newspaper, The Irregular. She stayed there for several years enjoying the beauty of Maine, skiing in the winter, and exploring the remote ponds and trails in the summer, as well as spending time with many lifelong friends. Later, she embarked on a career in marketing, which took her to New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania then back to Maine, which is the place she loved most. In her professional career in franchise marketing, she represented many large organizations, such as Dunkin Donuts, Burger King, H&R Block, and McDonalds.
In August of 2011, Pam was diagnosed with breast cancer. Within weeks of learning this news,
she lost her house and all of her material possessions due to flooding during Hurricane Irene in Pennsylvania. Her reaction to this was nothing short of remarkable. She fought and beat cancer, relocated to a new home in PA and reestablished herself, while remaining strong throughout the entire process.
Her favorite past times were walking the beaches of Ogunquit with her dogs Oliver and Scarlett, as well as spending time with her other dog-loving family and friends. Pam was extremely social and enjoyed her lifelong friendships.
In 2016, Pam’s cancer reemerged. Once again, the strength she demonstrated through the many radiation treatments was clearly extraordinary. A special thanks to all the family, friends and caregivers that supported her during these times and along her journey.
She leaves behind her mother, Patricia Simonelli, of Sturbridge, MA; brother Bradley Simonelli and his wife, Diane; brother William Simonelli and his wife, Julie; nephew Bradley; and nieces Maya and Anna. Pam was predeceased by her father, Arthur Simonelli, on January 28, 2000. Pam is also survived by many loving extended family members and friends as well as her beloved dog, Oliver.
Per Pam’s request, there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Ogunquit Dog Park, in remembrance of Pam, PO Box 875, Ogunquit, ME 03907.
