Lewiston, ME – Patricia Irene (Russell) Draper, 80, of Lewiston and formerly of Greene and West Haven, CT died on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at The Marshwood Center. She was the wife of the late Floyd W. Draper, who died on December 27, 1997.
She was born in Lewiston, ME on August 25, 1934, a daughter of the late Durward & Lucienne (Lampron) Russell. Patricia grew up in Sabattus, attending local area schools and graduating from Sabattus High School. After graduation, she married Floyd and moved to West Haven, CT, where she lived for over thirty years before moving back to Greene, ME.
She spent ten years working in the housekeeping department at Bates College, before retiring in 1993 to help care for her young grandchildren. Caring for all of her children and grandchildren was her favorite job.
Patricia was known for her wonderful smile, her noble heart, her kindness, and generosity. Patricia was an active member of the Greene Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the piano and the organ. She was also a wonderful singer. She took pride in her home was and was a very talented seamstress, always busy making clothes for her young children. She loved canning, cooking (especially for the holidays), and playing poker for pennies. However, Patty's favorite pastime was spending quality time with loved ones. She could always be found talking with friends and family over a cup of coffee. She was the best wife, mom, and friend anyone could ever ask for.
She is survived by her son Timothy Draper of Lewiston and four daughters: Deborah Sadenwater and her husband Patrick of West Haven, CT, Peggy Johnson and her husband David, Kimberly Long and her husband David and Rachel Leighton, all of Greene. She also leaves ten grandchildren: Melanie, Missy, Crystal, Jeremy, Amanda, Zachery, Megan, Lizzy, Caleb and Colby as well as a sister Yvonne Winslow of Sabattus, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Freddy and Robert Russell and mother of the late Floyd Draper and Yvonne North.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the nurses and aides of The Marshwood Center as well as Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at The Greene Baptist Church, 103 Main Street, Greene.
