Paul was born on February 3, 1949, to Leonard and Laura May of Westbrook Maine. He graduated from Westbrook High School and after graduation, joined the U.S. Air Force as an Aviation Engineer. Following his time in the U.S. Air Force Paul took his engineering skills to serve as a boiler engineer at S.D. Warren Paper Mill (Sappi) where he earned his nickname “Spike.” Paul retired after 40 years of hard work and dedication.
Paul will be lovingly remembered by those closest to him for his kindness, generosity, loving heart, and sense of humor that he never lost even up to his final days. People would often say “he’s one of a kind.”
Paul had a love for Dunkin Donuts coffee, Chinese food, road trips with his wife, vintage race cars, and classic movies like his personal favorite The Sandlot.
Paul leaves behind his wife, of almost 47 years Melanie Sue May of Westbrook, daughter Lori May and her wife Erica May of Randolph, son Paul May Jr. of Westbrook, sister Dolly Wescott of Westbrook, brother Albert May and his wife Vicky May of Gettysburg Pennsylvania and countless nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Laura May, sister Patricia Wescott and her husband Raymond Wescott as well as brother-in-law Clifford Wescott.
