
Paul graduated from Portland High School in 1965. He then attended the University of Maine, graduating in 1970 with a degree in Sociology. Paul married Sharon Ann Swain in 1970, and they settled in their home in South Portland, where they raised their three children.
He was a semi-retired taxi driver in Portland. He loved bowling, movies, the Boston Red Sox, and attending Portland Sea Dogs baseball games. His passion was poetry. He loved reciting his own poems, as well as those written by other poets. Paul was especially fond of writing and reciting poems about nature and people. He wrote over 250 poems in the last 10 years, and could recite them from memory at any given occasion. Some of his poems have been included in several publications.
Paul is survived by his wife, Sharon Yankowsky; his son Brian Yankowsky; his daughter LoriAnn Holmes and husband Keith; daughter Michelle Yankowsky; granddaughter Rebecca Anne Holmes; his brother Oscar “Mickey” Yankowsky; his sisters Roberta Bailey and Beverly Tyler and husband Warren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be private.
