Born in the Taishan province in Canton China on March 11, 1928, Mrs. Chan was married for over 40 years to her beloved husband Mr. Raymond (Kai Cheung) Chan. She was always known to him as his "Ah Tem".... his Sweetie.
After Immigrating to the US, Mrs. Chan was always true to her family and community, taking great joy in sponsoring and supporting others to achieve their dreams in a new country. Her home in Portland was open to weekly gatherings every Monday, where family and friends were welcomed to come eat, share, and laugh.
Among her many great accomplishments, she was one of the first female head chefs in the local culinary industry. And her goodwill towards others extended here as well, with her kitchen being regularly staffed with dedicated and trained apprentices.
She is survived by her daughters Suzanne Shao and Kimberly Chan, her grandchildren Tracy Zugnoni, Derek Shao, Jackson Chen, Judy Chen and Jason Chen, and her sister Heida Li. Her extended family is too vast to mention but they were all loved by her.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 9am, October 21, 2020, at Lincoln Memorial.
