I miss you everyday, Tyler. You re-sparked my love for music, had faith in me and were mentoring me. I taught you about strings and percussion, and you taught me about winds and conducting. I was beyond honored to spend time with you and students and to learn from you as your student teacher. You left a mark on the students and me in such a unique and perfect way. I think of you everyday and truly miss you. We grew very close, very fast. Im still a little sad you stepped on my foot and left me alone in the haunted house, or accused me of stealing your raisins. I loved the conducting lessons you’d give me in the dressing room since it had a mirror. Thank you for everything. You will always be an inspiration to me.🖤🤍

I miss you everyday Mr. West. Music isn’t the same

I was only in Mr. West's class for half a semester, but in that time, I never once felt excluded or left out. He was a personified ray of sunshine and I am so glad that I had him in my life. I'll miss his goofy laugh and his smile and the way he would light up a room by just being in it. My condolences go to his friends and family during this difficult time

I was shocked to hear of Tyler's passing and offer my sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and students. Our paths only crossed briefly when Tyler recently joined the flute choir at CSU-Pueblo, but appreciate the light and energy he brought to the ensemble.   I thoroughly enjoyed the long conversation we had with Mike B after our holiday performance at the Pueblo Mall a month ago, as we discussed teaching experiences, educational philosophies, our Midwest backgrounds, travel, etc. I was looking forward to more conversations and getting to know Tyler better. Sad that will not happen now. 🎶💕

Mr. West was my band director at south high school. Mr.west asked to play tenors for him and be his first girl to play the tenors for south of course I moved to south after my freshman year at central . Mr West believe in everyone , he could always put a smile on anyone face , I don't know how he didn't it but he can go into a room where if the energy wasn't right then he would walk into that room and it full of light now .

Tyler Will be greatly missed here at South. He was funny Every time he saw my special needs students in the hall he always stopped to give them a high five or tell them hi.  He was amazing soul who left an impact not only on his students lives but on the lives of his collogues.  He left an legacy that will be forever remembered here at South high school.

My dear friend, I will miss your friendship and your kindness. I will miss our sarcastic looks at each other across the sea of students. Although our time together was brief it made a lasting impact. Thank you for being my friend and for the laughs. 



I worked with Tyler at South High School.  He always had a smile on his face.  His easy going attitude made speaking with him very easy.  We bonded over math.  He was a great person and will be missed.  My heart goes out to family and friends.  God Bless.

Tyler was such a kind hearted soul.  His smile was so infectious.  I was honored to work with him.  He truly made a difference at our school and will be deeply missed.  Keep that beautiful smile and continue to look out for us.

Mr. West was the best one of the best teachers i know even though i didn't have his class me and still had are moments one thing i will never forget was one before one of the concerts Mr. West came into the choir room and heard me playing the piano he complimented me on how well i was playing and even invited me to join his jazz band i think it, his words made me want to continue playing the piano and it makes me sad that he's gone, i will never forget what he has done.

I got to know Tyler when I stayed with the West family as an exchange student many years ago. Although things didn’t turn out as I wished, Tyler and I remained friends throughout the years and kept in touch. 
I will never forget the kindness he showed me, when I moved in, and his enthusiasm for music, and life. I can still hear his laugh if I think of it, and I have so many memories to remember him. I always thought of how wonderful it was to see him grow up and become the passionate musician and human that he was. My deepest sympathies and condolences to the family, my heart goes out to you in this difficult time.

I wanted to share my condolences. Tyler was my student at Lisbon. I will always remember his smiles and laugh as he hung out with his friends. Playing in the band, singing, he brought joy to many people. I am very sorry for your loss. His spirit will live on in the hearts of many.

Mr. Tyler West welcomed me to South with a smile and tons of jokes. We bonded right away, as we both are from the Midwest. I have only been the choir teacher at South for a few months, but we had grown to be so close and did all of the work things together. Tyler helped me with everything since I am new and learning the rules, procedures, etc. I consider him one of my closest friends and by far my closest safe person in Pueblo. 

Before break we were talking about how much we miss breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches — *chef’s kiss*. I think I’m going to go try and find one because that sounds mighty good, I know he’d love it. 

I don’t know what I’m going to do without him. I went to my office yesterday and just lost it. I have learned so much from him and was looking forward to all of the future things we were planning to do together and continue to build our programs. I already miss him so much, I hope your soul rests easy. 

Tyler was one of the friendliest and kindest people I know and I'm so sorry he's gone. He was a fantastic friend and coworker to me, and an amazing teacher to his students. 

He and I arrived at South to teach the same year, and I'll never forget Tyler making me laugh during the normally dull orientation meetings. He would always stop by just to chat or vent, and even  went out of his way to let me in "the good door" right by my classroom. I used to always check for Tyler's blue car and Iowa plates every morning and probably still will.  I'll never forget spending a Friday with Tyler just exploring all the secret rooms in the school and laughing so hard we cried. Tyler always wanted to make life better, and was excited to try new things, whether it was skiing or target shooting with my boyfriend and me, or just catching up and telling jokes while out for drinks. I know everyone will have so many stories to tell about him, so these are just a few. 
 
Tyler was also one of the best teachers at South who would always give his absolute all to make kids' lives better. He shared his love for music and always made every kid feel proud of their performance and skills. He also tutored kids after school just because he knew that students needed the help. So many kids saw his classroom as a safe haven where they could be themselves, and saw Tyler as the funny, happy, supportive person that he was. 

I'm so sorry he's gone and will miss him terribly. My sincerest condolences to his family in this incredibly difficult time. I know no one can ever replace Tyler and that we all wish he were still here with us. 


Mr.West was an amazing teacher. He always had a smile on his face even through the rough times. He was so funny and always knew how to brighten his students faces. He treated us like his own. My condolences go out to his family and friends. 

I’d only just met Tyler in September and spent the length of two parties with him, but he immediately felt like a kindred spirit. I suspect he made a lot of people feel that with his warm smile and easy laugh. I am shattered to hear of his loss, so I can only imagine the exponential heartbreak for all those who’d gotten more time to love him. Deep, heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. I was just sitting on my ship when my friend broke the news. I don’t want to believe it. Mr. West made my senior year of high school very special. My condolences to his family and students, he is loved by so much. Rest in peace, Mr. West. You made my year last year the best. 

Mr. West you were the best band instructor I've ever met. You were playful, strong, and more importantly, loving. I always enjoyed being in your class so I would do anything to be in it longer. You are loved by all and we will miss you very very much. You have made such an impact on my life and I can not fathom enough how much of an amazing person you were. Mr. West was one of the best teachers I have ever had. His love for music and his students was unlike anything I've ever seen. He always had a smile and something positive to say. Whenever there were rough days, he would see the greatness that could still be achieved. I will always remember the camping trip he took us on after we graduated and his face when we walked across that stage. He was filled with so much love that it will live on forever. We are very saddened to hear or this horrific incident. We remember Tyler being a very nice, polite young man. Thoughts and prayers go to his parents and family.

Mr. West, there are not enough words to describe how much you will be missed. As a mom, I had always hoped that my children would meet that one teacher who makes an impact in their life. From the first time I met you, I knew all the kids at South High School were lucky to have you. You were genuine, and your love of music and teaching moved throughout your classroom and into your students. 
You had a profound impact on these kids, parents, and teachers. Know that you will be deeply missed, I pray that your family will find comfort in knowing that your love of music will continue to live through the students who had the opportunity of being taught by one of the greatest! Will never forget your laughter, and smile as it was so contagious. 

Oh Mr. West seriously there's no words to thank you for the impact you've had in our lives. I remeber freshmen year I dreaded going to orchestra. When you came I really felt involved and inspired to do better because you made me feel like I could. Then I became involved with everything I could possibly do. Truly I can never thank you enough for the memories you've given me. The presence and comfort you brought in the class will never be forgotten. He was one of kind, his laughter and smiles are so so missed. 

Mr. West was an incredible person. He loved his bowling shoes, he loved his bearded dragon. He always loved to make other people smile. Mr. West helped me get over so many difficult times in life. Mr. West was always so loving and caring. He would always laugh in Jazz band class. I won’t forget all the memories we had in Jazz band class.  Mr. West was truly amazing person. ❤️‍🩹

Mr. West was an incredible human being. He radiated passion for his craft, and inspired others to create as he did. If not for him, I never would have realized that my love for music was something I could pursue beyond high school and for the rest of my life. I was incredibly privileged to know him, and I hope his soul finds rest. My deepest condolences to his friends and family, he was truly one of a kind. 

I feel blessed that my friends in band and orchestra had the time with Mr. West that they did. His care, compassion, and kindness touched the hearts of every student he crossed paths with. I can’t begin to describe the warmth I felt spending just 5 minutes in his classroom, and I’m so thankful I got to spend the time with him that I did. I’m so thankful my friends got the time they did with him as a band director, conductor, and mentor.  His impact cannot be understated. Westie Bestie, you will be missed.

Westie Bestie I can’t believe you are gone. I will never forget your smile and laugh. You were meant to come into our lives and show us how to grow but taken from us all way too soon but grateful for the time we had. Thank you for all that you have done for my family and myself. You impacted so many lives. Play and teach the music loud and proud up in Heaven and show them all how it is done. Sending love and prayers to your family at this time of sorrow. He was the reason I stayed in band, always encouraging me to try and he never let the hardships of  the year dim his smile.

Mr. West was one of my directors in last years musical. I may not have known him long but I’m so incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to know him. He was so genuine and kind. He always made the people around him feel important and included. There has never been a person I look up to more than him. My deepest condolences to his family and everyone affected by his loss. Mr. West has only been my son's music teacher for the past few months (he is a freshman this year at South High School) but the impact he has made will last his lifetime.  Mr. West was an incredible young man who so many kids looked up to.  His contagious smile and laugh will be greatly missed. Dear West family and friends, 
My deepest heartfelt condolences on the loss of Tyler.  He joined flute choir this year where I met him and spent time with him.  We were fast becoming friends and I am so saddened to hear of his passing.  We will miss him terribly.  
May the God of comfort and peace give us strength to deal with this tragic passing and give us peace in the quiet times when nothing else can.  I will carry fond memories of Tyler with me.

Tyler joined our CSUP Community Flute Choir this year. He brought grace, joy and love for music with him. We are devastated. We will do all we can as a Community, to keep his loving and joyful spirit present in this world.

Tyler, what a great teacher and kind compassionate man.  He was so fun to work with this summer.  He helped many students this summer but there was one in particular he was so proud.  He spent time telling this student not to give up and by tutoring over a phone advising them he helped them to graduate something the student didn't think they could achieve but he believed in them.  He expressed how he enjoyed himself and could not wait to do more.  He is an angel.

Mr. West was one of the best teachers I've ever had and hands down the most supportive, caring, and charismatic person I have ever met. If it weren't for him, I may have lost my passion for music and I never would have been able to learn to play the clarinet. He gave me and so many others a sense of light and hope in a world that seemed otherwise full of darkness. I didn't realize how much his laugh affected me until today as I sit here and reminisce on every moment of laughter and chaos I spent with him. Words can't describe how much he was loved and appreciated by every single one of his students. Rest easy, Westie Bestie. We love you.

Mr. West was a special teacher who made learning fun.  My daughters both loved his unique sense of humor.  He was always available to help the students, whether with homework, or a friendly ear to talk over their problems.   All of his students loved him. He was truly a great teacher and mentor, he will be greatly missed.

Mr. West was the best band teacher I’ve ever had. He made marching band fun and he was the reason I looked forward to going to school everyday. The fact that he is gone still has me speechless because it felt like just yesterday I saw him playing Christmas Carols with us in the front of the school. Mr. West was a good man and a great teacher, Heaven must be proud to house a beautiful soul like his. We’ll always love you, Mr. West. 

Mr. West will be sincerely missed. He was  a mentor and unique special listener for my granddaughter at South High school. My condolences to his loved ones ,family, friends and students . 

Mr. West came into the lives of the students of South High music program when they needed him most.  He brought the joy of music back to them. He brought his cheer and smile, and hardworking ethics.  He taught my daughter and her friends so much in so little time.  I will be forever grateful for every day she spent in his presence her senior year.  I am so glad my family got to know Tyler so well😌.  We will all miss him dearly.
