Born in Los Angeles, California, Tom lived a life filled with adventure, service, and love for his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, dedicating 23 years of honorable service and retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. His distinguished military career included service during the Vietnam War, where his leadership, discipline, and integrity earned him great respect among his peers and subordinates.
While serving full-time in the Navy, Tom pursued higher education in the evenings and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems from National University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. His determination to continue learning and improving himself reflected the same drive and discipline that defined his military career.
Tom had a lifelong passion for reading, particularly historical works, military thrillers by Tom Clancy, and Western novels by Louis L’Amour. He also loved spending time with his beloved dog, Sadie, and exploring new adventures with his children and grandchildren. Having lived in three countries outside the United States and in ten different U.S. states, he often said that “home” was wherever life’s journey took him — especially when surrounded by family.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife, Edna Wilson; his two children, Sharon Saucier-Wilson and Wm. Brian Wilson; and his three grandsons, Wm. Alex Wilson, Quentin Wilson, and Peyton Wilson, all of whom were his greatest pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Helton.
There will be no formal service, but arrangements are being made for Tom’s remains to be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy, honoring his lifelong commitment to the service and the sea he so deeply loved.
Tom will be remembered for his humor, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
