OBITUARY

Gerald Gordon Armstrong

January 10, 1930September 1, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we would like to inform you of the passing of Gerald Armstrong on September 1st, 2021 at Centre hospitalier Université de Laval (Chul), Québec City at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his loving wife Frances Johnston Armstrong in November 2020. Gerald was the beloved father of Janet Emmott (Neil), Sheila Armstrong and Peter Armstrong (Helen). He leaves his cherished grandchildren, Lucy, Alex (Vanessa), Jennifer (Tristan), Sarah and James as well as his great grandchildren Fox and Lion. Gerald was the loving son of James Gordon Armstrong and Ethel LaSalla Cathcart as well as brother to the late Bernice Gallup (Milton), and late Joyce Drouin (Philibert).

Gerald was a proud Mason, as well as a dedicated member of Trinity Church (Ste. Foy). Some of his happiest moments were spending time with family and friends outdoors by a lake where he could fish, ski and snowmobile.

Golfing and playing bridge became his passion after his retirement from the CNR in 1988. A proud moment for Gerald was his hole-in-one, 7th hole at the Belvedere Golf Course, PEI.

Gerald will be missed by many friends as well as his nieces and nephews.

A service will be held when appropriate, delayed by the pandemic. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Jersey Mills Cemetery in St. Georges de Beauce which Gerald helped maintain for many years.

Gerald was always so very kind to our Mom, Gilberte. He kept in touch with her regularly, and she appreciated his calls and visits. He worked hard to care for the Jersey Mills Cemetery with Rex Scott and later, with my brother Richard. Gerald will be missed. Our sympathy to you all.

Gerald was always a "must see" whenever Cam and I visited Quebec. During the past 60 years, Gerald has been a gracious host whenever we stopped by. He informed us of the latest family happenings and accompanied us to the cemetery to review family history.

Our contact has been lessened by the Pandemic. We are grateful to you for this information.

To my surprise, Gerald died a few days before Cam. At some point in the near future, I intend to take some of Cam's ashes to the Beauce. Cam wanted that to happen.
