Alesha was born in Charlotte and later moved to Johnston County, where she raised her three children, whom she is survived by: Wesley Brown, Lauren Brown, and Allison White, along with her mother, Sharon Stewart. She is preceded in death by her father, Tom Jenkins.
She served as a police officer for the Cary Police Department for over 14 years, where she saved and greatly influenced countless lives. With great pride, she was promoted to Corporal in 2023 and recently became a detective. She loved the thrill of the chase for the bad guy, but it was helping the people in need that drove her passion. She enjoyed training new officers and continued to act as a mentor for them long afterwards. She was not only a respected and strong leader for her team, but most admirably provided comfort through the hardships that they faced in the line of duty. Her peers describe her as a trusted friend.
Alesha impacted the Cary Police Department’s history by becoming the first-ever female driving instructor.
Another inspiring venture of hers was that she volunteered to be deployed to Asheville, North Carolina, in 2024 to provide disaster relief support after Hurricane Helene.
She graduated from Western Carolina University with the class of 2019, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice all while being a single, hard-working mother to her three children.
If you came to Alesha’s home, she would have taken great pleasure in showing you all of her plants while reciting their names; she would even give you a grape tomato off of the vine if any were ripe! One of her favorite pastimes was to sit and watch the birds through her window; she particularly loved hummingbirds.
Religion was very important to Alesha, and she found comfort in having a close relationship with God, knowing he was by her side through each challenge she faced. She found community and close fellowship at church.
Alesha was known to be an admirably strong woman who overcame many hardships in life. In addition to that, she was exceptionally selfless and always put the needs of others before her own. She was quick to tell each person she met how much love and pride she had for her children, truly devoted to her most important role as their Mom.
Her death has brought great sadness among her many friends, peers, and family, and she will be sorely missed. She was, and will continue to be, a role model for her children and many others around her. Alesha will be loved and remembered every day.
Visitation will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, October 7th, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 pm at Apex Baptist Church.
