Born in Wilson, NC on October 7, 1926, she was the daughter of Samuel Turner White Sr. and Anna Tharaldsen White.
Anne is preceded in death by her son Steve Dunning and brothers Bill White and Sam White Jr. She is survived by her husband Carson S. Dunning, daughter Lyn Dunning, son Robert Dunning and wife Mary Dunning ,daughter in law Janice Dunning Harrison; Grandchildren Meredith Dunning Decker, Nathan Dunning, Anna Weshner Dunning, Wyatt Dunning, Coulson Dunning, Great Grandchildren Will Decker, Aaron Decker and Matthew Decker.
Anne graduated from Rocky Mount High School and Attended Flora Mcdonald College. She was a woman of many talents and interests. From her high school days as a cheerleader, member of the women’s basketball team to the class artist, she went on to raise three children while continuing her career as an artist, teacher and assistant to the director at the Rocky Mount Arts Center. When she moved to Raleigh in 1970, she became very active with a group of women at Artspace. These life-long friends traveled and made art together. Anne also loved to travel with her family. Anne was an avid tennis player and competed on the North Hills club women’s team for many years. As the years went by Anne became more and more involved in gardening and could always be found in her garden with her dogs. It was one of the most beautiful, peaceful places in Raleigh and her sanctuary till the end.
A private family memorial service will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park Chapel, January 28. Brown-Wynne Funeral Home is assisting the family
