Barry, 64, was born on April 9,1959 in Doylestown, PA to Charles J.W. and Helen K. Truscott. He was the youngest of three children.
Barry started his education at the Kutz Elementary School in Doylestown, then Buckingham Friends School in Lahaska, Pa. where the family were members of the Buckingham Friends Meeting.
After his father’s death, Helen and Barry moved to Tavares, FL. Where he attended Tavares middle and high school. After graduating, he took several classes at the Lake Co. Technical school.
He worked for 20 years in several processes of cutting lumber and manufacturing roof trusses for Ting Lee Truss Co. in Tavares. Barry retired after a spinal injury while on the job.
His favorite pastimes were with his best friends, Tony and Pat Keeney fishing, hunting, tractor pulling contests, and taking their pickup trucks “mud bogging” to see who could get their truck the most muddied. He was an excellent card player, a good cook, loved growing flowers, and could correctly tell you “Who dun it” on the TV mystery shows before anyone else.
After living in FL for 35+ years, Helen and Barry moved to Oxford, NC where they lived next to Barry’s sister and brother-in-law. After Helen passed away, Barry began to have some mental health problems. After several years he had a mild stroke, then was eventually diagnosed with Dementia with Lewy Bodies. He could no longer care for himself and was placed in an assisted living facility where he was visited by family and friends regularly. He eventually was switched to long-term care, then Hospice care.
Barry loved his family and friends. He leaves behind an older brother and sister-in-law, Wes and MaryAnn Truscott; an older sister and brother-in-law Ann (Sue) and Lynn Freese; six nephews and their spouses; and 21 great nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service and Interment will be held on November 18, 2023, at Buckingham Friends Meeting, Lahaska, PA.
