

Barry was born on August 22, 1938 in Brunswick, GA and grew up in Georgia. As a teenager in Jesup, Barry learned to hunt and fish, and spent countless hours exploring the rivers and swamps of southeastern Georgia. Among his favorite memories were adventures on the Altamaha River, including building a houseboat with friends.
Barry graduated from Emory University with a degree in chemistry, where he was a proud brother of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity.
Curious, resourceful, and never afraid to try something new, Barry pursued a wide range of careers over the years. His work included roles as a photographer, salesman and sales manager, medical laboratory technician, spice factory worker, science teacher, furniture manufacturer, launderer, and small business owner. He also served in the Army Reserves as a medic.
Above all, Barry was devoted to his family. He was a proud father, a loving brother and uncle, and a doting grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Betina Rothstein Weinstein, the love of his life.
Graveside services will take place at 11 o'clock on Wednesday, June 17, at the Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery,450 N. State Street, Raleigh, with Rabbi Eric Solomon officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chabad of Cary, Beth Meyer Synagogue, or to a charity of your choice.
