Bea died on December 8, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born July 3, 1920 in Nanticoke, PA to Sarah and James Hutchinson. A child of the Great Depression, she graduated from Hanover High School in Wilkes-Barre, and then went on to become a Registered Nurse in 1942 graduating from Kings County Hospital School of Nursing in New York City.
On January 22, 1943, she married Everett G. Stook at the Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan, with Dr. Norman Vincent Peale officiating. After living in New York, she and Everett moved to Buffalo, NY in the late ‘40s where they raised their family. In 1983, Bea retired as Director of Nursing at the Amherst Nursing Home, and continued living in Buffalo until relocating to Raleigh in 1990.
With a special sense of purpose as a breast cancer survivor, Bea volunteered at the Rex Breast Care Center for 5 years. She was a member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church, active in Keenagers and her Circle, and for 7 years contributed to resident committees at The Heritage where she had many dear friends.
Bea was predeceased by her husband Everett (1993) and son George (1996). She is survived by her daughter Judith Stook Ganey (Michael) of Raleigh, daughter-in-law Bonnie Stook (George) of Severna Park, MD, grandchildren Rett Stook (Stephanie) and Nick Stook, and great-grandson Ryker Stook.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at White Memorial Presbyterian Church on December 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
