

Betty was born on December 16, 1941, in Whiteville, North Carolina. She was a woman of gentle spirit and warm heart, known for her kindness, her love for others, and her deep faith in Jesus. Betty found joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time reading, visiting the beach, and collecting swans. She had a sweet tooth and delighted in her favorite treats, bringing happiness to those around her. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister, and a dear friend to many.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Wicks; her daughter, Wendy Poovey and husband Allen Poovey; her son, Donald Moore; her sister, Louise Bowen; her granddaughter, Tabor Poovey; her grandson, Brayden Poovey and wife Kristen Poovey; and her great-grandson, Kellen Poovey. She is also survived by her nephew, Tim Bogenn and wife Jennifer, and her niece, Nancy Burns and husband Patrick.
A graveside service will be held at Pinewood Memorial Park, 4150 East Tenth Street, Greenville, North Carolina, on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
