We celebrate the life of Billie Sue Rudolph, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grand mother, and dog mom. Sue graduated from Wingate College, and received her master’s degrees from Appalachian State University. She was born in Haskill, Tennessee, lived her formative years in Whiting, Indiana, and spent the majority of her life in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Sue spent 35 years teaching 4th and 5th graders, many who knew her as Sue Chambers. Sue's faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She was a member of Trinity Baptist for close to 50 years, spending many of those singing in multiple church choirs and teaching Sunday School.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John Delno Smith and Mary Blanche Smith. Those surviving include her beloved husband of 41 years, Bob Rudolph. Sue's legacy lives on through her children, Jennifer Tolbert (Terry), Norman Chambers, Jo Rudolph, and Lisa Chiles, her grandchildren, Morgan Powers (Scott), Mary Madison McHugh (Toby), Jay McHugh (Lisa), Alex Lane, Sophia Chambers, Stephanie Claudio (Nick) and Josh Garrels (Brianna), and her bonus grandchildren, TJ Tolbert (Brooke) and Katie Cranston (Colton). Sue also had the joy of being a great-grandmother to eight grandchildren, ranging in age from 12 – 2. Sue also leaves behind her two precious pups, Midnight and Sully, who were her constant companions and sources of joy.
A loving wife, a nurturing mother, and a friend to many, Sue's love knew no bounds. Whether it was shopping with her mom, enjoying a meal out at Panera, or spending time with her husband, the love of her life, she embraced every moment with grace and gratitude.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Sue's life, Friday, December 15, at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Rd. Raleigh. There will be a viewing at 1, followed by a service at 2 pm. A private family graveside service will follow.
