Carol Chambers Rich

Born on October 14, 1935, in North Wilkesboro, NC, Carol was the daughter of H.T. and Patsy Chambers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard; her sister, Mary; and her beloved husband of 42 years, A.R. Rich.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Robin Rich Brown (Keith) and Teresa Rich Palmieri (Vinnie). She was a proud and devoted Nana to Joe Palmieri and Nick Palmieri (Caitlyn). Her grandsons brought her endless joy, and she never missed a chance to celebrate their accomplishments, encourage their dreams, or brag about them to anyone who would listen.

A graduate of UNC Women’s College in Greensboro and went on to build a meaningful career with WTVD, Durham Coca-Cola, and later through her dedicated volunteer work in the Durham Public Schools’ libraries.

For more than 50 years, Carol was a cherished member of the Lowes Grove Bridge Club, where she found friendship and lots of laughter over the years. Carol was a devoted Tar Heel Basketball fan, cheering with the same passion season after season.

In 1987, Carol and A.R. retired to Cedar Point, NC. They embraced coastal life with open arms, good neighbors, and countless hours spent in the ocean.

Carol will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, and her steady, gentle strength. She had a way of making people feel cared for, of listening fully, and of loving without conditions. Her presence was soft but powerful, and her family will carry her spirit with them always.
